Yountville Clinic

St. Helena Hospital, located in Deer Park, CA, responded to a need in nearby Yountville to provide community clinic servies. The building consists of an efficient family practice clinic on the first floor (2,055 s.f.) and two residential units on the second floor (2,014 s.f.).

Yountville’s development and design requirements brought many challenges and opportunities, one of which was to maintain a view corridor from the historical main street. Sited between an existing residential area and the town’s historic district, DGL was required to simulate the historic features of the district and maintain the scale of the neighboring homes. Vernacular forms of gable roofs with large dormers were used to keep the overall building mass to a minimum. The use of paned double-hung windows, shake and clapboard siding, canvas awnings and craftsman-styled details help to blend the building into both residential and historic neighborhoods. A trellis and grapevines complete the total look of the Napa Valley.
